The helper handles the upload and export steps that require access to your actual drive — the parts a web app can't do. Everything else is in the browser dashboard.

macOS 12 Monterey or later · Apple Silicon or Intel · ~18 MB
Open the .dmg and drag fotoz Helper to Applications
Standard macOS install. No admin password required on most Macs.
2
Launch the app and sign in with your fotoz.in account
Your browser will open for secure login. Once authenticated, a device pairing code appears in the helper.
3
Enter the pairing code in your dashboard → Devices
Your Mac now appears as a linked device. From here, you can upload previews and export originals from any event.
What the helper does — and doesn't do
Reads your preview folder and uploads watermarked versions to the gallery
Copies selected originals into a new subfolder after your client submits
Stores your login token in the macOS keychain — not a plain text file
Does not upload your original RAW or full-res files (only the folder you point it at)
Does not run in the background when closed — you open it, do the work, close it
Does not modify or delete any of your original files
Common questions
"fotoz Helper can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software"
Right-click the app in Applications and choose Open. This only happens once — macOS is warning you about a new app from outside the App Store. We're in the Apple notarisation process.
The pairing code expired before I could enter it
Codes expire after 10 minutes. Click "Generate new code" in the helper to get a fresh one.
Upload progress stopped at 60% and didn't resume
This usually means the WiFi connection dropped. Close the helper and reopen it — uploads resume from where they stopped, they don't restart from the beginning.
Export finished but I can't find the folder
The helper creates a "Selected — [Event Name]" folder inside the same parent directory as your originals folder. So if your originals are at /Volumes/LaCie/Priya Wedding/Originals, the export will be at /Volumes/LaCie/Priya Wedding/Selected — Priya Wedding.
