Six steps. About 7 minutes of your actual time. Here's what using fotoz.in looks like end to end.
Log in to the dashboard, hit New Event, and fill in the event name, client name, and the client's WhatsApp number. Set how many photos you want the client to select — a minimum and a maximum. If you're on Standard or Pro, add sections: Mehendi, Haldi, Baraat, Pheras, Reception — whatever ceremonies are relevant.
The event starts in Draft state. Nothing is visible to the client yet.
Open the fotoz Helper app on your computer, select the event, and point it at the folder containing your exported previews. These are JPEGs from Lightroom or any other software — you're not uploading originals or RAWs.
The app watermarks each photo, generates a compressed gallery-ready version, and uploads both. For a 500-photo wedding on a decent home WiFi connection, this typically takes 20–40 minutes — running in the background while you work.
Once uploads are complete, the event status changes to Gallery Ready. Copy the gallery link from the dashboard and send it to your client — over WhatsApp, SMS, or however you communicate. That's one link, one message.
The link looks like gallery.fotoz.in/g/xK8mP2. It doesn't contain the client's name or any identifiable information.
Your client opens the link on their phone. They enter their WhatsApp number and receive a 6-digit OTP to verify. Once in, they see the gallery — your photos, organised in the sections you created, full-screen in a clean grid.
They tap each photo they want. Selected photos get a visible highlight ring. They can tap any selected photo again to add a note: "Make this black and white," "Crop tighter on the faces," "This one's for the album cover." Notes are tied to that photo's filename — they won't get lost in a chat scroll.
When they're done, they hit Submit. Done.
You get a notification the moment your client submits. Open the helper app, go to the event, and click Export. The app fetches the list of selected filenames from the server, scans your originals folder, and copies each matching file into a new "Selected" folder.
If your client picked 210 photos out of 800, you now have a folder with exactly those 210 originals — named exactly as they came out of your camera. No hunting. No manual cross-referencing.
A PDF selection report is automatically generated when your client submits. Download it from the dashboard. It contains the event name, client name, submission timestamp, and a table: photo number, filename, section, and the client's note for each selected photo.
Attach the PDF to an email to your retoucher or album designer along with the Selected folder. They have everything they need — no WhatsApp back-and-forth, no guessing what "the one near the mandap" means.
